I bear in mind when I prepared chili con carne for the very first time. It was many years back, as well as it was so simple! I fried some beef and afterwards ... I opened up a pack of spices mix! I added it to the meat along with tomatoes, a sprinkle of water and red kidney beans and done! Yes, although I am embarrassed to confess to it now, I need to admit that I used a shop-bought mix to make that recipe in the past. But there is something much more embarrassing. When that ready to prepare package had not been available any longer, I stopped cooking chili con carne. Why? I thought back then that making it from square one was too challenging and that I would certainly never ever attain the exact same taste.

When I ultimately got my courage and a fantastic recipe, also! I understood that thanks to cooking it myself, I knew exactly what was in it. As well as it tasted possibly even far better than the one I used to make. No surprise then that it quickly became one of my family members's favorite meals.
